Weather-Based Sales & Staffing Decisions
Every morning, a beachside kiosk's weather, staffing plan, and social copy land in the manager's inbox — automatically.
The problem
Weather-dependent businesses like a beachside kiosk in Miami burn manager time every morning interpreting the forecast, guessing at staffing, and deciding what to push on social media.
The solution
An automated workflow pulls local weather data each morning, processes it for that day's conditions, and emails the manager: recommended staffing levels, which products to prep in volume, and ready-to-post promo copy tailored to the weather.
Benefits
- Less wasted product from better demand forecasting
- Managers reclaim morning planning time for actual operations
- Marketing posts are written before the first customer arrives
Challenges & what I'd improve
Initial setup of the weather API key and email formatting were the main slowdowns. To scale across multiple locations, I'd convert the static company and location info into variables so a single template serves many kiosks.
